The 10 Second Review

The LC500 is designed for leisurely driving rather than aggressive cornering. Its sleek exterior design commands attention and exudes luxury. Inside the two-seat cabin, it offers both comfort for extended journeys and practicality for everyday use. Featuring a standard V-8 engine, it delivers an exhilarating engine note. Available in both coupe and convertible versions, Lexus offers extensive customization through the Bespoke Build program, encouraging you to create a sophisticated and enduring style that will attract admiration for years.

The In-Depth Review

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

2024 Lexus LC500: Most under-rated sports car?

The standard LC500 is powered by Lexus’s potent 5.0-liter V-8 engine, generating 471 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. It is exclusively paired with a swift and smooth 10-speed automatic transmission, delivering a delightful internal-combustion symphony that matches the LC’s visual appeal. Despite riding on large 21-inch wheels during our test, the Lexus exhibits minimal body roll, good balance, and excellent ride quality.

The Performance package adds variable-steering and adaptive rear-wheel-steering systems, enhancing steering response and agility. However, the standard chassis setup aligns better with the LC’s grand tourer character, offering a more natural feel without compromising its handling precision. We recommend sticking with the base chassis for optimal driving dynamics. Braking is handled by a firm and progressive pedal feel and robust, fade-resistant brakes at each corner.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

While the Lexus LC500 boasts a luxurious interior with top-notch materials, superb craftsmanship, and impressive technology, its functionality suffers slightly. The driving position is excellent, the front seats are incredibly comfortable, and the optional sport seats provide exceptional back support. However, some of the controls are not very user-friendly.

The LC’s design prioritizes aesthetics over practicality, resulting in a tiny trunk (only 5 cubic feet) that can barely fit two carry-on suitcases, and non-folding rear seats. While the cabin is undeniably attractive, there are few compartments to store loose items. The center console is a decent size and has a high ergonomic design.
