Porsche is venturing into the maritime industry by announcing a new electric boat, and it’s no ordinary vessel. This boat will be fully electric and share its powertrain with the brand-new Macan EV.
Teaming up with the Austrian luxury boat manufacturer Frauscher, Porsche is set to unveil the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air. While it’s based on Frauscher’s 858 Fantom Air, the boat has much more to offer. Porsche states that the boat incorporates components from its innovative Premium Platform Electric EV platform, which it shares with the upcoming Macan EV. This includes a high-voltage lithium-ion battery and a permanently excited synchronous electric motor, providing the 850 Fantom Air with an impressive 500 kilowatts of power, equivalent to 536 horsepower.

Moreover, it boasts a DC fast charging capability of 250 kW, enabling the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in under half an hour. The boat’s range, however, will be contingent on your speed preferences. When cruising at a steady pace, Porsche claims you can achieve 22 knots (approximately 23 mph) for about an hour, covering roughly 28 miles. If you alternate between low and high speeds, Porsche suggests you can enjoy two to three hours of travel. Additionally, the boat offers different drive modes, so selecting Sport mode will naturally result in reduced range.

In keeping with its luxury status, the 850 Fantom Air boasts a host of amenities. It can comfortably accommodate nine passengers, features a lounge area with two sunbathing pads, offers Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity, a Bluetooth stereo system, LED ambient lighting on board, LED underwater lighting, and a 12-inch multifunction display in the driver’s cockpit.

If you aspire to own one of these remarkable boats, be prepared to dig deep into your pockets. Porsche plans to release just 25 first-edition models in early 2024, each priced at €561,700 or roughly $595,000 at current exchange rates.
