The In-Depth Review
EV, Transmission, and Performance

The choice of EV6 version impacts the specifications. All EV6 models come with a 77.4kWh battery, which is larger than the 72.6kWh unit in the Ioniq 5. However, there’s a distinction between a rear-wheel drive single-motor version and an all-wheel drive dual-motor model. The former generates 226bhp and 258lb ft of torque, completing the 0-100kmh sprint in 7.3 seconds, whereas the latter delivers 321bhp, 446lb ft of torque, and reaches 100kmh in 5.2 seconds.
Some may anticipate greater performance from Kia’s flagship EV, but it’s essential to recognize that contemporary electric vehicles aren’t solely focused on headline acceleration figures as they once were. The market is evolving as EVs gain broader acceptance, with consumers rightly seeking well-rounded models that offer more than just sheer speed.
The performance of the AWD EV6 aligns with its specifications. It accelerates quickly enough to outpace most vehicles on the road but doesn’t feel excessively aggressive. While accelerating to 100kph is brisk, the rate of acceleration noticeably decreases at higher speeds on the highway.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
While the EV6’s exterior design is more daring than its interior, the inside still offers an attractive and futuristic layout. Despite lacking features like a sliding center console and front-seat footrests found in the Ioniq 5, the EV6 impresses with its blend of high-tech elements such as a digitized dashboard and practical features like ample storage solutions and a spacious bin underneath the center console. Noteworthy touches include the two-tone, two-spoke steering wheel, a prominent start button on the center console, and tasteful accents throughout the cockpit. With a flat floor and a wheelbase as long as the Kia Telluride, passenger space is generous. Cargo capacity is also commendable, with 28 cubic feet available behind the back seat and 54 cubic feet with the rear seatbacks folded flat. Additional storage space under the front trunk is available, albeit not as extensive as anticipated.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The car has a large touchscreen for entertainment and information. It’s connected to the digital instrument cluster but the physical controls are clunky. It does offer some nice features though, like wireless phone charging, smartphone mirroring apps (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), Wi-Fi hotspot, and the option to upgrade the sound system to a 14 Speaker Meridian system.
