The Nissan Patrol has a storied history in the Middle East, where it has gained iconic status as a rugged and reliable off-road vehicle. The Nissan Patrol was born because of the Second World War

Japan was left devastated by the Second World War, with its roads and towns in ruins. Similar to other nations during that period, the Japanese government turned to its automotive industry to help rebuild the country. It enlisted the assistance of automakers such as Toyota and Nissan to develop a utility vehicle similar to the Jeep.

Nissan’s response to this request was the creation of the 4W Series, which, much like all four-wheel-drive vehicles of the era, was relatively slow, basic, and not much more advanced than a tractor. Although Toyota ultimately secured the contract, Nissan remained determined, believing in the potential of its design. Consequently, Nissan introduced the first production model of the 4W in September 1951. The 4W60 Series continued in production until 1960 and found export markets in Russia and South America.
