The 10 Second Review
The CLE-class, resembling the footprint of the previous C-class coupe, offers two available powertrains and a range of standard cabin technology. It embodies Mercedes’ latest innovations in a stylish two-door coupe or convertible. Specifically, the CLE200 variant, branded under the CLE badge, boasts a 204-hp turbocharged mild hybrid four-cylinder engine.

The In-Depth Review
Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The CLE 200 Coupé is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with a mild hybrid system thats capable of delivering 204 horsepower and a torque of 320 Nm. The hybrid system is a 48-volt system, incorporating an electric motor that can add up to 23 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque. What we find immensely clever is pressing the starter button immediately ignites the engine without delay. It starts quietly thanks to the 48-volt mild hybrid system integrated into the nine speed auto gearbox. This system charges during coasting or braking, providing a 23bhp boost for quick acceleration bursts. It also enhances power delivery by compensating for turbo lag. Smart technology indeed!

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The interior of the CLE-class will feel familiar to those acquainted with the C-class and GLC-class, sharing a similar layout. However, it introduces new front seats exclusively designed for the CLE-class. These seats feature a sliding mechanism activated by a leather strap for easier rear-seat access. Standard amenities include heated seats, with optional upgrades to include ventilation and massage functions. The cabin boasts standard 64-color ambient lighting and a 17-speaker Burmester sound system. While base models offer vinyl upholstery, Mercedes offers leather and premium nappa leather options for those willing to spend more. The CLE-class provides more front legroom compared to both the C-class and E-class coupes, positioning itself between the two in terms of rear legroom. Its trunk capacity of 14.8 cubic feet surpasses that of the previous C-class coupe by 2.1 cubic feet but falls slightly short of the E-class coupe by two-tenths of a cubic foot.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The digital dashboard of the CLE-Class comes in two large displays: a 12.3-inch screen for gauges and a central 11.9-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. You can control the system by touch, voice commands (“Hey Mercedes”), or steering wheel buttons (which can be confusing at first). The infotainment system is up-to-date with new apps like TikTok and Zoom, along with built-in music services and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

“It’s a very pretty car to look at. But lacks the sports car performance which is on the more premium models!”
