The In-Depth Review

EV Motor, Transmission, and Performance
Equipped with a pair of electric motors that create an electrified rendition of Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system, the standard e-tron GT produces a maximum of 522 horsepower, while the RS variant peaks at 637 horsepower will be testing this in October 2023. This robust power translates into exhilarating acceleration, facilitated by its innovative two-speed rear transmission. This transmission features a first gear for impressive launches and a second gear optimized for efficiency during sustained driving. A sophisticated cooling system ensures that the battery pack can endure repeated runs without displaying the usual signs of heat-induced deterioration.
Audi departs from the conventional one-pedal driving setup on its sporty EV, opting instead for a more natural driving feel. Additionally, the e-tron GT offers optional features such as all-wheel steering, an adjustable air suspension, and a range of wheel sizes, spanning from 19 to 21 inches. In our firsthand experience we appreciated its smooth ride, stable handling, and the ability to customize regenerative-braking settings through paddle shifters on the steering wheel. During our testing, base Audi e-tron GT accelerated 0-100km/h in 3.6 seconds.
The e-tron GT can reportedly replenish its battery from 5 to 80 percent capacity within approximately 23 minutes when utilizing the standard 270-kilowatt DC fast charger.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
Within the e-tron GT’s interior, there’s a blend of imaginative and practical design elements. The cockpit features a series of digital displays on its angular dashboard, complemented by high-quality finishes. Audi offers a leather upholstery option in various colors, as well as an eco-friendly package using recycled materials. Luxury amenities abound, with choices including ambient interior lighting, a head-up display, heated and cooled front seats with massage functions, and more. The front seats are positioned low to the ground, enhancing the car’s supercar driving vibe. In the rear, the outboard seats offer ample legroom but slightly limited headroom, and the middle seat is more suitable for occasional use than extended comfort. There is storage space both behind the rear seats and in the “Frunk”.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Although the infotainment system in the e-tron GT differs from more touchscreen-centric Audi models like the A7 sedan and e-tron SUV, the driving position leaves you naturally wanting to rest your hands on the steering wheel and refrain from engaging with the screen. However, it remains visually appealing and packed with popular features. The central touchscreen, measuring 10.1 inches, can be operated using steering-wheel-mounted controls and voice-recognition software, which is really really in need of improvement. In addition to a Wi-Fi hotspot, the e-tron GT offers options such as wireless charging and an impressive 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
