If you’re the type who loves escaping to the wilderness, leaving behind the chaos of the real world for a night under the stars, you might be concerned about the state of the planet right now. If that’s the case, you might be searching for ways to reduce emissions during your camping adventures. That’s where the GMC Hummer EV steps in.
No, you’re not misreading that; the massive GMC Hummer EV has been turned into an adventurous overlanding setup, offering a range of thrilling “zero-tailpipe emission overlanding possibilities,” according to its creators.

This intriguing creation is the brainchild of Earthcruiser, a company known for its overlanding trucks based on Ford’s Superduty trucks and other specialized vehicles. For this new project, they took the heaviest electric vehicle you can currently buy and made it even bulkier.
The GMC Hummer EV Earthcruiser Upfit, with its catchy name, transforms the least efficient electric vehicle on the market into a camping haven. Inside the pod in the truck’s rear bed, you’ll discover a stylish kitchen complete with appliances like a stove, a full-size bed, and a foldable toilet.
On the exterior, you’ll find storage boxes to store your supplies, and the camper even boasts an outdoor shower. It’s truly an impressive creation.

The roof of the pod can be raised to provide a spacious standing area that measures 117 inches tall. At the top of the pod, there are solar panels to keep all your gadgets powered while you’re off the grid. To manage the weight of this behemoth, keep in mind that the camping pod is constructed from carbon fiber, and the Hummer EV itself starts as a 4,082-kilogram truck.
Starting in 2024, this camper conversion will be available to all 904 Hummer EV owners who have received their trucks so far. While there’s no pricing information available yet, considering that the Ford-based Terranova camper retails for around $350,000, you can expect this Hummer kit to be similarly costly.
