The In-Depth Review

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

Tested: 2024 Maserati GranTurismo: Decade long wait. Totally worth it!

The GranTurismo borrows a powerful, characterful twin-turbo V6 engine from its sportier sibling, the MC20. This engine comes in two versions: a 483-horsepower “Modena” option and a 542-horsepower “Trofeo” upgrade. Both models offer a comfortable and quiet ride. Notably, the GranTurismo boasts a unique engine design inspired by Formula 1 racing.

While a manual transmission isn’t available, all gasoline-powered GranTurismos come with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The car adapts to your needs: “Comfort” mode provides a smooth, bump-absorbing ride, while “Sport” mode transforms it into a focused sports car with sharper handling and a more aggressive sound.

While the GranTurismo is fast, reaching 100 kmh in 3.5 to 3.7 seconds depending on the model.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The GranTurismo prioritizes both luxury and practicality. While it’s a sporty two-door with four seats, the back seats are best suited for occasional use, similar to a “2+2” layout.

The spacious cabin boasts high-quality materials, upscale finishes, and numerous amenities, contributing to a comfortable driving experience for the front passengers on both short and long journeys. The improved rear legroom compared to the previous model might accommodate children or luggage, but it’s not ideal for adults on longer trips. The trunk offers enough space for weekend getaways, especially without the spare tire taking up additional room.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The GranTurismo boasts a modern infotainment system straight from the new Grecale. A large 12.3-inch touchscreen dominates the center console, while a separate 8.8-inch display handles climate control. Both CarPlay and Android Auto connect wirelessly, simplifying smartphone integration. Essential information like speed and navigation is displayed conveniently on the head-up display. The audio experience is crafted by Italian audio experts, Sonus Faber, with up to 19 speakers available for immersive sound.
